William John Brick, 79, of Midland, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born Sept. 20, 1934 in West Branch, son of the late Herman Joseph and Loraine Marie (Killingbeck) Brick. He attended schools in West Branch and Midland, graduating from Midland High School. Bill married the former Berniece Jungman Oct. 13, 1956 in Auburn.

Bill worked for The Dow Chemical Co. as an operator and retired after 36 years of service on March 31, 1989.

Bill was a member of the Midland Moose Lodge and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Scripture Lutheran Church and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife Berniece are three sons, David (Molly) Brick of Gloversville, N.Y., Kenneth (Linda) Brick of Midland, Rodney (Beth) Brick of Breckenridge; one sister, Mary (Earl) Sprague; eight grandchildren, Norman Brick, Justin Brick, Jeremy Brick, Heather Gibson, Todd (Jenn) Brick, Carrie (Darnell) McMurrian, Amber (Brent) Rogers, Chad Brick; 9 great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Brick, Merissa Brick, Rayne Brick, Koda Brick, David Nethaway, Haden Brick, Sylvie McMurrian, Ellie and Josie Rogers.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Elaine Laplow; one granddaughter, Rachael Brick; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe McMurrian.

Funeral services will take place 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from Holy Scripture Lutheran Church. Pastor Paul Schneider will officiate, with burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeland. Bill's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, Monday July 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
