Elizabeth May (Parrent) Sigelko, 87, died peacefully in her home, July 4, 2014. Elizabeth was born May 23, 1927, and raised as the oldest child in a farm family from Reese. She was stubbornly independent throughout her life, strong, taciturn, gentle, loving and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Elizabeth was a long-time, active member of St. Gabriel (formerly St. Joseph) Catholic Parish in Auburn, and was employed at MidMichigan Hospital in Midland for more than 20 years. Hating to be the center of attention, she was a quiet strength and loving and prayerful support in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed but lovingly and joyfully remembered by her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving sister, Lorraine Geiger; ten children, James (Julie) Sigelko, Thomas (Kimberly) Sigelko, Jeanne (William) Keller, Wayne (Nancy) Sigelko, Duane (Mary Kay) Sigelko, Charmaine (Bruce) Middaugh, Karen (Mark) McMahan, Michael (Laurie) Sigelko, John (Kimberly) Sigelko and Scott (Rebecca) Sigelko; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Wilmer List Sigelko, whom she married May 21, 1949 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese; by her son, Paul Robert Sigelko; her parents, Anthony and Georgianna (Balduc) Parrent; and her four brothers, Patrick, Peter, Paul and Charles.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Fisherville (former St. Anthony), with Fr. Thomas E. Sutton as celebrant. Inurnment will take place in New Calvary Cemetery. Elizabeth's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until time of Mass.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to St. Gabriel's Parish or the Toni and Trish House for the terminally ill in Auburn,.
