Gerald "Jerry" T. Nowak, 63, of Midland, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, 2014 at his home. He was born March 29, 1951 in Alpena, the son of the late Stanley and Shirley (Niles) Nowak.
He attended Catholic Central High School and graduated from Alpena High School. Jerry earned his Associate's Degree from Alpena Community College, and had served in the United States Army. In 1990, he moved to Midland and was the assistant manager at Rite Aid for 15 years. Jerry's favorite activities included fishing, sailing and reading.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Nowak of Clinton Township, Miranda Nowak of Detroit; brother, Robert (Brigitte) Nowak of Kizingen, Germany; sisters, Linda (Don) Booth of Midland, Ann (Rick) Shupert of Overland Park, Kan., Jo (Steve) Fair of East Lansing; and one grandchild.
He will be dearly remembered as "A simple man with simple needs."
Memorial services will take place 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Hospice Advantage of Bay City.
