Margaret Jean Black, 84, of Owosso, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the First Congregational Church UCC, 327 N. Washington St., Owosso, MI 48867. Pastor Debbie Grazier will be officiating, with final rest in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. The family will receive friends at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, in Owosso on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and on Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Jean was born on Sept. 1, 1928, in Midland, daughter of John and Mary (Sasse) McCreadie. On Aug. 12, 1950, she married Robert Black and together they raised two children. Robert died on Oct. 28, 1984.
Jean lived in Midland and Flint before settling into Owosso. She worked for General Motors
for 15 years, then went to work for Sears where she would stay until her retirement. Jean was a member of The First Congregational Church UCC in Owosso where she was active in the choir. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Women's Memorial Healthcare Auxiliary. She was a former volunteer for the Red Cross and the Shiawassee County Extension. Jean enjoyed quilting and belonged to the "Happy Hookers" quilting club.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Tina Aguire of Owosso; son, Charles (Josi) Black of Cedar Park, Texas; four grandchildren, Jeremie, Jusamine, Hannah and Kaitlin; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Jeremie; and two brothers, Bob and Dick McCreadie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brother, Jack; and sister, Betty.
