Miles David Tiller, 20, was born on Feb. 11, 1993, in Bay City, Texas. He lost his valiant battle against Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy on Sept. 5, 2013.

Miles was blessed with a quick wit and a ready smile. Against all odds, he graduated from Bullock Creek High School in 2011. Miles was an excellent student and was on the honor roll all through high school, he earned varsity academic awards all four years and the Scientific Excellence Award in Physiology. He really enjoyed being a member of the Robotics Club, attending many competitions and earning the Safety Leader Award.

Miles attended Davenport University for two years, (where he majored in computers) making the Dean's List for the first year and receiving the Platinum Scholarship Award for 2011-2012. Miles was an avid reader, loved computers, fishing, playing cards and his video games.

Miles is survived by his parents, Mark and Heidi (Cook) Pitt; his grandparents, Pat and Leo Pitt of Midland, Jim and Elly Cook of Boerne, Texas; his brother, Brennon Tiller of Saginaw; and sisters, Aleshia (Travis) Snyder of Rockford and Danielle Pitt of Beaverton. He is also survived by the following aunts and uncles, Rhonda Gross (Andy Kay) of Theresa, N.Y., Jim (Sally) Cook of Interlochen, Shawncey Aguirre of Hopkinsville, Ky., Peggy (Mike) Day of Boerne, Texas, Jamie (Aaron) Urbanawiz of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Engel (Joe Drnach) of Webberville, Kevin Downard (Kim Tilley) of Rockport, Texas, Kathy (Craig) Engleman of Comfort, Texas, Donald Downard (Catherine) of Boerne, Texas and Dori Wells of Stephenville, Texas. Also surviving him are a host of cousins and special friends. He leaves behind his beloved cats, Camo and Skye. Special caregivers were Pam Tetu, Michelle Mandelstamm, Becky Speaker, Angela Schmidt and his nurse, Marilyn Walters.

A funeral service will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2012, at 12 p.m., with Chaplain Wayne Shidler officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Muscular Dystrophy Association in Miles' name at MDA, 1605 Concentric Blvd. Ste. 3, Saginaw, MI 48604 or directly to the family to help defray final costs.
