Irene Rae Sears went peacefully to her eternal reward on Oct. 17, 2013, from Schnepps Senior Care Facility in St. Louis, with family at her side. Born Irene Rae Walls on Aug. 25, 1937, to Orlie Clifford and Ruby Jessie (Herzog) Walls., she moved to Midland in 1953 and graduated from Midland High School in 1955. Irene married Bruce Byron Sears in 1955 in Midland, attended Mott Community College and Michigan State University, achieving a registered nurse, bachelor's and master's degrees.

Mrs. Sears is survived by two daughters, Robyn Rose Sears of W. Roxbury, Mass. and ReaRae Irene Sears of Indianapolis, Ind.; granddaughter, Tiffany Sears and great-granddaughter, Deila Stong of Flint. Also surviving are three sisters, Marie Mae Johnson of Six Lakes, Ruby Ann Behnke of Midland and Sharon Ann Watkins of St. Louis; two brothers, Robert (Mary) Walls of Six Lakes and Jerry (Kathy) Walls of Lakeview; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Byron Sears II, in January of 1983; both of her parents; and three brothers-in-law.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and interment of cremains is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eagle Ridge Church of God, the Diabetes Assoc., the ., or the .
