Donald E. Freeman, 81, of Midland, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Tendercare of Midland. Donald was born on May 28, 1932 in Ludington, to the late Noel and Lucille (Ritter) Freeman.

Donald worked as an operator at The Dow Chemical Co. for 33 years. Donald also served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Donald loved gardening and landscaping, and truly enjoyed his grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Eric (Karen) Freeman of Sanford, Rebbecca Horton of Newak, Ohio, Gale (Mike) Morgan of Orlando, Fla. and Thomas Horton of Midland; grandchildren, Christine, Kayla, Shane, Brad, Stacey, Heather, Kelly, Amanda and Zach. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Jean Freeman; and his brothers, Lewis and Ronald Freeman.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Tendercare and Heartland Hospice for all their help and care of Donald.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Tendercare or Heartland Hospice.
