Joan Dupree Obituary

Joan Evelyn (Berry) Dupree passed away April 17, 2015, surrounded by family at her Tucson, Ariz. home. She was born in St. Charles on Aug. 12, 1943. She fought multiple myeloma (a blood cancer) valiantly, but it proved to be too devious and strong for today's medicine.

She leaves behind a large number of loving relatives; in-laws and friends; including her loving husband of 53 years, Wayne Dupree; and two daughters and their families, Denise Dupree and Amy Triebwasser. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Norma Berry; and her only sister, Jean Schwartz.

Joan's circle of friends was large, due in part to her love of people (kids and babies in particular), coffee klatches, entertaining, cooking, basketry, beading, sewing, quilting, home decorating, color and art. Her skills and accomplishments at these activities were highly respected.

A "Celebration of Joan's life" will be held at the Freeland Methodist Church in Freeland on Aug. 8, 2015, at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.

No memorial suggestions are being made, but she favored organizations that supported disadvantaged women, children, medical research and the arts.

She is, and always will be, missed, leaving a huge gap in our lives. May she rest in eternal peace.
