William 'Carey' Vannarsdall, 89, of Jonesville, passed away, Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the New Horizons Medical Center. Born April 6, 1924, in Jonesville, he was the son of the late William and Susie Perry Vannarsdall. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Agnes Noel, Olan, J.C., Frank and Joe Vannarsdall. Carey was a devout member of the Concord Baptist Church where he served in the capacity of Sunday school teacher, deacon, Sunday school superintendent and moderator. Carey was also a farmer and played Santa Claus for many years for different organizations. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eva 'Louise' Caldwell Vannarsdall; his sons, Lloyd (Lana) Vannarsdall of Owenton, Daryl (Debbie) Vannarsdall of Dry Ridge and Wendell Vannarsdall of Jonesville; his brother, Amos Vannarsdall of Georgetown; his sister, Bea Perkins of Owenton; four grandchildren, Lyndsay, Tameca, Colt and Michael and four great-grandchildren, Laila, Trezdon, Bentley and Zayden. The family received friends Thursday, May 9, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. The funeral services were held Friday, May 10, at the Concord Baptist Church. Burial was in the Jonesville Cemetery with Bro. Eddie Reynolds presiding.
