SHELBYVILLE - David E. Minch, 85, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Baptist Health Louisville.
Born in Owen County, he was the son of the late Roy Simpson and Madie Blanche Martin Minch. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Pursuing a career of service in education, he taught school at Shelby County High School and East Middle School and served as principal at Finchville. Active in the Shelby Baptist Association, he was instrumental in the founding of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shelbyville where he was a member and served as a deacon and Bible teacher and assisted in the Hispanic ministry. An outdoor enthusiast, he was a sportsman and enjoyed gardening.
His survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Mary Roberts Minch of Shelbyville; his son, Norman (Beth) Minch of Stamping Ground; his daughter Marilyn (David) White of Graefenburg; his sister, Mary Gibson of Owenton and his three grandchildren, Shelby White, Rachel White and Trenton Minch.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Highland Baptist Church in Shelbyville with Reverend Kevin Kimes officiating. Interment was in the Owenton Cemetery in Owenton.
