Celebration of Life services for Howard Ray Dawson, 78, Frankfort were held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church in Frankfort. Rev. Todd Lester officiated. Burial followed at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort. Howard went to meet his Lord on Dec. 6, 2013 and will spend Christmas with his loving wife, Mary. A native of Gratz in Owen County, he was a graduate of Owen County High School. He retired from the transportation cabinet as a utility agent with 28 years of service. He went on to work in various aspects of real estate as an appraiser, realtor, developer and landlord. He served his community through many organizations including Chairman of the Trustees at Thornhill Baptist Church, City of Frankfort Planning and Zoning Board, campaign chair of the Franklin County Committee for Brereton Jones for Governor and as magistrate of Franklin County's third district for 21 years. Howard will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was the son of Howard W. Dawson and Wildeen Smoot and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary C. Dawson.
