Dale Manley passed away on Nov. 30, 2012, at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville, Ohio. The son of Pryor and Willouise Link, he was born Oct. 2, 1929 in Nashville, Tenn. Dale was a devoted, loving husband, father, son and grandfather. Raised on his family farm in Owenton, he overachieved in academics, baseball, wrestling and received statewide recognition as a basketball guard. Dale graduated at the age of 16 and enlisted in the United States Army Calvary where he served in occupied Japan. Upon honorable discharge, he studied animal husbandry at the University of Kentucky and was invited to walk-on in basketball by Coach Adolph Rupp. The majority of T.D.'s professional life was a return to the farm as a well-known owner, breeder, trainer and driver of trotting and pacing horses. T.D. always gave much more than he received. Dale loved life and passed his love of family, hunting, fishing, horseracing, and out-of-the-box thinking to all. Dale was also known to occasionally pay homage to his Irish/Scottish ancestry. Survivors include special companion, Laura Jordan; daughters, Rachel Manley of Clarksville, Ohio, and Julie True of Frankfort; sons, Kevin (Sharon) Manley of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Mark (Anne) Manley of Xenia, Ohio; two grandchildren, Ryan Manley and Ethan Manley. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all at Quaker Heights Care Community for their loving care of Dad in his final years. The family also wishes to thank Evercare Hospice, especially Michelle and Sandy. The funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, with Pastor John Whitaker officiating.
