Mr. Sammy Randolph Bryant, 74, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany, Mississippi. He was born on June 24, 1944 to the late John Buell and Willie Belle Randolph Bryant in New Albany, Mississippi. His parents instilled the importance of education and investing in the growth of young adults. He was math teacher, basketball coach and a school administrator for more than forty years. His students will remember his quote "A Word To The Wise Is Sufficient". Coach Bryant was a member of First Baptist Church in Ripley where he had served as a Sunday School teacher, a Deacon, a Trustee, and in other capacities. He especially enjoyed fishing and family gatherings with a host of siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Coach Bryant will be Monday, July 9, 2018, from 7:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Ripley. His service will be Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church . A private family graveside service will follow the service.
Coach Bryant is survived by his wife of fifty-two years Willie Ann Barkley Bryant of Ripley; one daughter Tameri Dunnam of New Albany; three sons, Brent Bryant of Olive Branch; Sam Bryant (Carron) of Starkville; Rodney Bryant (Allison) of Alabaster, Alabama; one sister Tommye Harris (Jack) of Ripley; one brother Rev. Danny Bryant of New Albany; six grandchildren Jordan Murry (Ryan), Sam Jackson Dunnam, Olivia Dunnam, Madilynn Bryant, Maddox Bryant, C.J. Bryant; one great-granddaughter Mary Eason Murry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dr. J. B. Bryant and his wife, Bettye; one son-in-law Randy Dunnam.
