News Death Notice

DEATON, Matt C. age 92, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at Carlisle Manor on Monday, January 7, 2013. He was born December 12, 1920 in Altro, KY to George and Mary Deaton. He served our country during WWII in US Army with an honorable discharge. He started working at the age of 13 at Shakleford Coal Company, he then moved to Middletown in 1941 to work at Inland Container. He was drafted in the Army also in 1941, serving his country until 1946. He was in four combat missions; from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo leaving to work at Inland Container for 43 years. Matt loved square dancing and trading guns at gun shows and visiting family and friends in Kentucky and Indiana. He had a great heart and was very giving. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd Deaton "Doodle"; sisters, Callie Spencer and Neva Milan. Matt is survived by daughter, Sheila (Ronnie) Baker of Franklin; son, Gary Deaton; grandchildren, Kevin(Becca) Baker, Krystal Baker, Holly Deaton; great-granddaughter, Alexis Baker; very special nephew, Don Callahan; special friend, Dorothy McWhorter along with other nephews, nieces and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff members at Carlisle Manor for the caring hospitality shown to Matt and his family and friends, also to Hospice of the Miami Valley for their caring support over the last week. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Bowling officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with military services by Middletown Combined Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family at
