News Death Notice
MASTERS, Donald Eugene "Gene" age 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2012 at Hospice of Hamilton surrounded by his family. He was born August 20, 1932 to Millard and Julie (Norvell) Masters. On June 23, 1951 he married Patricia (Parvis) Masters. Together they had 2 daughters; Sharon (Dave) Coleman and Jeana (Mike) Howell. He had 10 grandchildren; Michael Murphy, Jr., Shaunna Hendricks, Amanda Murphy, Nichole (Todd) Murphy, Dustin Hendricks, Angela Murphy, Amber Hendricks, Christa (Robert) Marcum, Michael Howell, Dylan Coleman and 9 great grandchildren; Lane, Kylie, Michael, Elena, Bryson, Cody, Brayden, Caiden and Shyanne who love and miss him very much. During his 60 years of marriage he served in the U.S. Army stationed in Arlington, VA. He also worked at the Union County Co-Op, the Pepsi Cola Company, worked as a farm hand, and ultimately retired from Miami University. He was a Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns fan, an all around sports fanatic. He was also a big supporter for Talawanda and Union Co. athletics and most Friday nights could be seen sitting center court or walking the side line. He took great joy in playing baseball for the Army, College Corner, Oxford, and the 4th of July Old Timers League. He coached youth baseball and softball and supported his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they carried on his love for sports. Gene had such a great love for life and never took a single day for granted, and loved his family unconditionally. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia Masters who was the love of his life for 60 years, a brother Fred Masters, a sister Donna Cash and a granddaughter Amanda Murphy. Visitation will be held Monday October 8 from 2-4 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 4 at the Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford. He will be laid to rest in the College Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Animal Adoption Foundation, 2480 Millville Ross Rd., Hamilton, OH 45013.
