FLAKE, Helen R. (Ball) beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on November 14, 2012 at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Harry M Flake who passed away in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents Flora (Davis) Ball and Perry Ball; brothers, Charlie, Everett, Titus, Willard, and Harlan; sisters, Cuba Robinson and Dare Ball. She is survived by her forever loving family, sons, Gordon (Rita) Flake and John Richard (Lisa) Flake; daughters, Michelle (David) Hare and Valorie (Kevin) Frazier; and grandchildren, Jaclyn, Laura, Jonathan, Andrew, Lydia, Bryan, Emily, Rachel, Sarah, and Helena. She is also survived by brothers, Burton, Gorman, and Norman Ball. Helen, a Davenport Virginia native moved to Cincinnati in the early 1950's. After her marriage to Harry they lived in Kettering OH, Huntsville AL, and finally moving to Warren County in 1972. Upon Harry's retirement from NASA, Helen and Harry opened a campground on their farm outside of Clarksville; they also operated a canoe rental business on the Little Miami River until the mid 1980's. She was active member of her beloved church, the Wilmington Church of Christ. Helen traveled most of the lower 48 states, plus trips to the Holy Land, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii. Helen was one of the most caring, thoughtful, and loving persons you could ever meet. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Wilmington Church of Christ, 909 W. Locust Street, Wilmington, OH. Friends may call from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Wilmington Church of Christ. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH. The funeral procession will depart Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 21. Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home is serving the family.
