News Death Notice

ELLIOTT, Betty Ford of Middletown, died April 10, 2012. She was the daughter of Jesse Ray and Nell Graham Ford, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended public schools in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and East St. Louis, Illinois; was a 1944 graduate of Christian College for Women, Columbia, Missouri; attended the University of Illinois; and, in 1947, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from McKendree College, Lebanon, Illinois. Mrs. Elliott was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in St. Louis, Missouri as an executive assistant to the personnel manager from 1947- 1953. She resided in Middletown until her death. She was married for 53 years to retired Common Pleas Judge George H. Elliott, of Middletown, Ohio who passed away in April, 2006. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth A. Oliver of Middletown, and Claudia J. Elliott (husband Julio Ortega) of Providence, Rhode Island; a son, John C. Elliott (wife, Denise) of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren: Sean E. Oliver of Washington, DC; Kara Elliott-Ortega of Chicago, Illinois; Sasha Seif (husband, Jacob) of Dallas, Texas; and Ryan P. Elliott of Houston, Texas. She was past president of the St. Louis chapter of Beta Sigma Phi international sorority, and Merrie Mothers Study League of Middletown. She devoted more than 29 years of volunteer work in the Physical Therapy Department and Meals on Wheels at Middletown Regional Hospital. Betty Elliott was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing piano with her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 4:00 pm with Dr. Dan Flory officiating at Baker- Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home.
