Anita F. Fisher
CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. - Anita Fay Wilhite Fisher, age 99, of Greenfield, where she lived for the last four years at Kindred Care Center and formerly of Cambridge City, Ind. She went to her eternal home in Heaven on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital.
Anita was born on April 2, 1912, in Utica, Ky., to John W. and Mable L. (Cummings) Wilhite. She graduated from Connersville High School in 1930 and Indiana University
School of Nursing in June 1936, was a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Sorority.
Anita married Walter Fisher on Nov. 28, 1936, and attended the College of Embalming with her husband, then moved to Cambridge City and worked side by side with Walter at Fisher Mortuary for 32 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cambridge City and was past regent of the National Old Trails Chapter of D.A.R., past president of the Helen Hunt Club, past Worthy Matron of Cambridge Chapter O.E.S., and past member of the Friday Study Club and Wayne County Federated Club.
Anita was awarded "Woman of Achievement" of the year by Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Beta Pi Chapter, in June 1991. She enjoyed writing and published two books, Genealogy of the Bruner Family 1728-1967, and Genealogy of the Wilhite Family 1685-1992. She loved visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Garth Fisher of Janesville, Wis.; two daughters, Gleela (Wayne) Miracle of Muncie, Ind., and Gay (Bill) Pangburn of New Palestine, Ind.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Walter Fisher; and sister, Elizabeth May.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with Pastor Dan Jones officiating. Private burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
