RICHMOND, Ind. - Ronald H. Nickell, age 75, of Richmond, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Reid Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born March 31, 1936, in Milan, Ind., to John H. and Mary E. Knight Nickell, he lived in this area most of his life. Ronald was a 1954 graduate of Greensburg High School and served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He retired from Dana Corp. in 2003 after 45 years. Ronald was a member of Star Baptist Church in Greensburg and was a 32nd degree Mason and Master Mason of Webb Lodge 24, F.&A.M. He was an avid race fan and loved muscle cars. He was a very loving husband and was very proud of his kids. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Pilgrim Nickell; sons, John R. (Nicole) Nickell of Avon, Ind., and Jeff A. (Paula) Nickell of Centerville; grandchildren, Chelsie and Tyler Nickell, both of Centerville, Brandon Lucas of Indianapolis, and Wade Slifer of Centerville; and nephew, Robert Nickell II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert D. Nickell; and sister, Deloris Bindhamer.
Visitation for Ronald H. Nickell will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Centerville.
