Raymond McNEALY Obituary

McNEALY, Jr., Raymond William

Raymond William McNealy, Jr. of Tequesta, a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother and dear friend, passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2014 after a long and incredibly gallant battle with several illnesses. His loving wife of 20 years, Patricia Patt Cloutier McNealy, was by his side. Mr. McNealy was born on November 21, 1927 in Chicago, IL, the eldest of four sons to Dr. R.W. McNealy and Mary Sarena Kinney. He is a graduate of The Groton School in Groton, MA and Harvard University, and earned his MBA at the Harvard School of Business. His distinguished business career included leadership as vice chairman of American Motors Corp. and later as C.O.O. of American Machine Foundry. Mr. McNealy was an avid golfer at Turtle Creek Country Club, where he played competitively and happily for 20 years; he was recognized for the distinction of his eight holes-in-one. Mr. McNealy was a member of several golf clubs around the country, including Frenchman's Creek in Jupiter; Woodway Country Club in Darien, CT; and Orchard Lake Country Club in Birmingham, MI. In addition to golfing, Mr. McNealy cherished spending time with family and he enjoyed traveling with his wife, oil-painting and playing his beloved drum set. Mr. McNealy gave generously to many causes and charities as well as to many individuals in need. His benevolent nature touched many people who sought his counsel and empathy. "All who knew and loved him will remember him best for his generosity, sense of humor, keen intellect and lust for life," said Patricia Patt Cloutier McNealy. Mr. McNealy's three brothers include Col. (Ret.) Richard McNealy (Carol) of McGaheysville, VA; John McNealy of Weatherford, TX; and the late Thomas McNealy, formerly of Fairfield, CT. Mr. McNealy has four children by his first wife, Marmalee Noffke McNealy, including Raymond William McNealy III (Susan) of Des Peres, MO; Scott McNealy (Susan) of Portola Valley, CA; Barry McNealy (Patrice) of Sonoma, CA; and Susan McNealy of NC. Mr. McNealy was the proud grandfather of Colleen and Ryan McNealy of St. Louis, MO; Andrew McNealy of Chicago, IL; Kyle McNealy of San Francisco, CA; Maverick, Dakota, Colt and Scout McNealy of Portola Valley, CA; and Avery Minor, a student at UCLA. Mr. McNealy was a loving stepfather to Patricia's children: Kimberly Cloutier Green (Douglas) of Kittery Point, ME; Wendy Cloutier Solhan (George) of Tampa, FL; Robin Cloutier of Jupiter; Peter Cloutier (Jane) of Stamford, CT; and Marcie Cloutier (Robbie Bedell) of West Palm Beach. Patricia and her children wish to express their deep appreciation to Jenny, Norma, Lorna and Cece, the extraordinary caregivers who made it possible for Mr. McNealy to spend the last four years of his life comfortably and happily at home. He loved each of them dearly. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 27 at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail in Jupiter; a reception will follow. Blessing: to others. Imaginative: man who was an inspiration to many. Intellectual as he was intuitive. Longevity: in his chosen field which has had a lasting effect on those who follow. Loving: and loyal man who listened as intensely with his heart as he did with his ears. Youthful : despised his age, once in his presence, you knew he remained youthful at heart. Although in the end, he may not have been able to verbalized his words, however, he spoke most eloquently with his eyes and facial expressions.

I loved Billy's bravery and honesty; his warm smile and easy laughter; his willingness always to give his time and full attention to anyone who asked for it; and his capacity for love, which was still growing until the day he passed away. I miss him already, and I will miss him always.
