MARSH, Marilyn* - North Palm Beach
MARSH, Marilyn Marilyn Marsh, 89, of Palm Beach Gardens, passed away peacefully in Hospice Care at St. Mary's Hospital Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Her husband, well known Broadcaster Ray Marsh, preceded her in death in 2006. Marilyn was surrounded by her three children Barry Grant Marsh, Randy Fredric Marsh and Susan Marsh Carta at her passing. She was the consummate stage mom who succeeded in encouraging her husband Ray and their three children to enter the broadcasting field. Marilyn's love for her family was only eclipsed by her love for The Lord who she was more than willing to talk about to anyone she came in contact with. She attended the weekly Tuesday morning Bible Study at Faith Lutheran Church in North Palm Beach. Marilyn proudly wore a button that read "I'm a witness for Jesus" while volunteering her time at the Hospice Thrift Store on Donald Ross Road in Juno Beach. Many of her friends and neighbors knew her as the "Cookie Lady". Among her many talents was baking delicious cookies, made from a special recipe. They were well received by all. Born Marilyn West on May 31, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio, she attended West High School where she was on the cheerleading squad. It was in Columbus, Ohio that Marilyn met Ray Marsh and after six weeks of courtship the couple eloped and were married. Marilyn Marsh is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 754 U.S. Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. A funeral service will be held at Howard-Quattlebaum on Friday, February 27 at 12:00PM with interment to follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. The family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County in the name of Marilyn Marsh in lieu of flowers. MARTIN, John N. "Jack"* - West Palm Beach
MARTIN, John "Jack" N. John "Jack" N. Martin of Hobe Sound, FL (1935 - 2015) It all began in New Rochelle, NY. Jack loved living in Long Beach where he could ride his bike to the beach to suntan and "kiss the girls under the boardwalk". Although struggling with a tough childhood, he still completed college at Adelphi University. Jack went on to become a successful businessman. Jack worked in the financial district in the City for a time. The 2 hour ride each way on the LIRR was stressful. In 1966 Jack decided it was time to leave his beloved Long Beach and accept a job at Florida Power & Light. On the way out of New York, he looked in the rear view mirror at the Verrazano Bridge and said "good bye, good riddance". Jack loved the Florida life and his job at FPL. He was in charge of Procurement for the fossil and nuclear power plants. He certainly felt "large and in charge" sitting in his big office chair. An avid boater, Jack docked his Cabin Cruiser "Our Pleasure" in the Florida Keys where many weekends and holidays were spent sailing with our cockapoo, Skipper, fellow boaters, and friends. After many years of hard work at FPL, it was time for some world travel. Over the next few decades we traveled the world with Jack's Sister, Eileen and Brother-in-Law Jim. We often traveled the unbeaten path; enjoying each adventure laughing, eating local cuisine, drinking in the sites and history. Jack's favorites were the Scandinavian Cruise, Australia and New Zealand. He is remembered by all the family and friends who love him, especially his daughter Diane, his son Robert and sister Eileen. Also the four-legged family members that made him smile, Jill, Skipper, Cody, and Bisquit. "In sickness and in health, till death do us part." Love, Sharon A memorial service will be held at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound on February 28th at 11:30AM. Donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice.
