Age 88, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013 with family members by his side. Donald Dunn grew up in Clinton, Indiana with his brother Neil Dunn (deceased) and sister Betty English. He was a World War II veteran and served as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division, aka the "Angels". Don earned multiple Bronze Star medals (Heroic or Meritorious Achievement), a Good Conduct medal, and a Purple Heart. After the war, he married his childhood sweetheart, Jean Abernathy of Fairview, Indiana. They moved to Indianapolis where he had a long career with Indiana Bell. In 1970, they moved to Lake Worth, Florida where he worked for Southern Bell. They had a full life with 8 children, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Jean was the love of his life and they were married for 55 years. She preceded him in death 12 years ago. Don is also preceded in death by his beloved son, "Donnie". A family gathering for his remembrance was hosted by Jean's sister, Kate Ward. If you met Don, you undoubtedly ended up in a friendly conversation with him. This was his natural gift. Our Dad was a generous and caring father who loved his children unconditionally. We welcome you to attend the graveside service with Military Honors for Donald L. Dunn on March 23, 2013 at 11:00 am.
