Francis "Chappy" Adams III, a titan in Palm Beach County real estate as a principal with Illustrated Properties, was killed this morning in a traffic accident, his office has confirmed.
Colleagues said they just learned of the accident and are in shock.
According to police, Adams was heading northbound on the I-95 exit ramp to PGA Boulevard in a 2010 Mercedes Benz E350 at around 4:42 a.m. He failed to turn right and instead crossed the eastbound lanes of PGA Boulevard before hitting a concrete median that divides the road.
Adams then crossed the median into the westbound lanes of PGA Boulevard, where his car hit the raised concrete curb on the north shoulder of the road. The car then drove through the grass shoulder north of the road, crossed through a ditch and struck a tree.
Adams, who police say was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the wreck, police said. Police are still investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the wreck.
