WOOD, Helena Nickerson

passed on to her final reward in heaven November 3. She was born in Boston Massachusetts January 28, 1918 to Joseph and Mary Nickerson. Helena is preceded in death by her beloved husband William Wood, Sr. a former city commissioner of Lake Worth. She is survived by her sons Richard Gould of Berkeley CA and William Wood of Oakdale CA and Grandson Tim Gould of Carson CA, Granddaughter Gillian Monserrat of Antioch CA and Grandsons Scott Wood of Oakdale CA and Paul Wood of Los Angeles. She led a very successful life in retail marketing of women's high fashion. She rose to manage the Peck and Peck Flag Ship stores in New York City and finally on Worth Avenue here in Palm Beach. Subsequent to that she became the General Manager of the Vacation House Hotel in Lake Worth. She was also a founding member, past President and Area Governor of the Greater Palm Beaches Zonta International Club. A celebration of Life Memorial Mass will on Saturday November 16, 2013, 12 noon at Sacred Heart Church, 410 North M St, Lake Worth. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation to the Salvation Army would be appropriate.
