STOCK, Hugh J.

February 3, 1928 - January 10, 2014 Hugh Stock, age 85, formerly of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI and Jupiter, FL, peacefully passed on January 10, 2014 with family by his side. Born in Grosse Pointe, MI the youngest of six siblings and attended St. Paul's High School. He served in the Korean War and upon his return was a Grosse Pointe Shores Police officer. He was married to his beloved wife Theresa Stock for 58 years. During that time he was a very successful business entrepreneur. In 1953 he and his brother Harold Stock started Stock Brother's Underground Construction, 1968 he was president of The Associated Underground Contractors (AUC), 1972 formed Stock Brothers Industrial Services, and in 1976 he began Great Lakes Environmental Services. Upon their retirement, Hugh and Theresa moved to Jupiter, FL. Always active, he was an avid boater and world traveler. Hugh was a long time member of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, Ocean Reef Club, Jonathan's Landing Golf Club and Jonathan's Landing Yacht Club where he served as Commodore. He is survived by three children Patrick (Paula) Stock, Mary Stock, and Roger Stock, loving grandfather of Erica Stock, Steven Stock, and Christina (William) Stock-Connolly, and great-grandfather of little Portland. He will be laid to rest with his wife Theresa at St. Paul's on the Lake Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI.
