Passed away on January 16, 2013 at the age of 91. He was born to Phyllis and James A. Smith in New York on August 4, 1921. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, St. Albans, NY in 1940. James is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Florence. Married in 1942 while proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy

. He received a ribbon bar with bronze medal for his service connected to USS Bogue (USS Lea). They raised their three children, Judith (Richard) Weegan, James F. (Sheila) Smith and Mary (Jeff) French in Bethpage, NY. Also mourning his loss are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Frank) Dupree; brother, Michael (Rose) Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Dorothy, John, George, and Frank. Following his retirement from Grumman Corp. in Bethpage, NY he began his own business ?Jimlo Sales?. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Indian Hills Country Club in Fort Salonga, NY. James and Florence moved to West Palm Beach in 1986 where they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August 2012. A memorial service will be held January 28,11:30 AM at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth. James was a very charitable man, and in lieu of flowers a donation to the
