BISHOP, John C.
John C. Bishop passed quietly at the age of 81 at his home in Tequesta, FL on Saturday morning, March 30, 2013. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of William and Helen Bishop. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Flo Bishop and his children, Karyn Knecht, Wendy Taylor, and John Bishop, Jr. John served in the United States Army
for two years during the time of the Korean War
. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney for 33 years and also worked at Robinson Citrus for 8 years. In the early 70s, John was a member of the Martin County Volunteer Fire Department and also served as a girls softball coach for JTAA. He also had a passion for astronomy, having been a member of the Palm Beach Astronomy Club and winning a "Most Unique" award in 1975 for designing and building a telescope. After retirement, John enjoyed time with his grandchildren, Patrick Magee, Shannon Magee, Kyle Taylor, Whitney Taylor, and Dalton Knecht. Just last year he was able to meet his two great-grandchildren, Caylen and Addilyn Taylor. He also volunteered at Hobe Sound Elementary School since 1996. John was a one-time member of the Elks, a member of the UTC Retirees Club, and recently joined the American Legion. He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. His memorial mass will be held at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Tequesta, FL on Friday April 05, 2013 at 1:00 PM. An inurnment will take place immediately following the service at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, FL. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ARC of the Palm Beaches.
