Leo R Wenzel, 83, passed away at home in Royal Palm Beach Florida on February 20th in the company of family and dear friends. Known for his spiffy hats, quick wit and welcoming charm, Leo will be remembered locally for his commitment to keeping a watchful eye on neighborhood. Born July 24, 1929 in Jersey City, Leo served in the U.S. Army for two years during The Korean War, attended Rutgers University where he served as Vice president to Rutgers Kappa Upsilon Fraternity and graduated Rutgers with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1961. Beginning his career at West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co., Leo remained in the corrugated box industry in executive management, retiring from Squire Corrugator Container in 1994 Leo married Theodora Brandle in 1953 and moved from Jersey City to Belleville, where they raised their family. After 25 years of marriage they separated and Leo moved to Edison, before retiring to Royal Palm Beach Florida with his partner the late Marie Gilbert. Leo is survived by Theodora Wenzel, daughters, Jacquelyn & Joy Son-in laws Peter Jungkunst & Antonio Silva, granddaughters' Cassandra & Alyssa Silva. Nieces Geri, Joan, Mary, and Joan. Nephews Joe and John Wenzel Sister-in-law Mable Wenzel and Step-daughters Lorraine, Terrie & Patrice and step-granddaughters Valerie and Elissa.
