BENCEK, Lola Waldrop

Lola Waldrop Bencek went home to be with her Lord on February 21, 2014 after a long and fulfilling life. Born on September 17, 1923 in Greer, South Carolina, Lola was a known as an independent, savvy business woman and wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lola had a very successful career in retail management which included rising to the level of store manager at Jordan Marsh. Upon retirement from retail management, Lola and her husband Jack, owned and operated the Tides Apartments on Singer Island before full retirement in Palm Beach Gardens. While successful in business, she was most successful and will always be remembered and cherished for being a wonderful mother and grandmother. When Lola entered Heaven she was welcomed by her grandson Klifford Snowden and many other family members and friends. Lola touched the lives of so many with her genuine kindness and tender loving care. She had a way of truly connecting and caring about people and she will be forever loved and remembered by all with whom she came in contact. She came to know the Lord in February of 1999 and we are forever grateful for her salvation in and through Jesus Christ. To God be the glory. Lola is survived by her 3 sons Fred Snowden, Clayton and Brian Fitzhugh and their families, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and cousins Bob and Ann Waldrop and Margaret Giles. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, from 6 to 7PM, with a Funeral Service to follow at 7PM, at Howard Price Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lola's name may be made out to the Salvation Army, www.salvationarmyusa.org.
