HUCKLE, Marilyn G.
Marilyn G. Huckle, 87, of Boynton Beach, passed away on September 2, 2013. She was born in Saginaw, MI on January 20, 1926. Mrs. Huckle graduated from Albion College, Albion, MI in 1947. She was the President of Beta chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. In 1947, she met her future husband, George T. Huckle after World War II, and married him August 27, 1950. He was a medical student at the University of Michigan
in Ann Arbor. She was employed in Ann Arbor as a social worker for the Michigan Department of Social Welfare, until Dr. Huckle's graduation from medical school in 1953. After completion of Dr. Huckle's Internship and four year residency, they moved to Florida in 1958 where he became the first Ob-Gyn at the new Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach. They adopted two babies, Reid Scott and Kay Andrea. Mrs. Huckle served on the Boynton Beach Planning and Zoning Board for over 15 years and completed an un-expired term on the Boynton Beach City Council in 1980. She was appointed to be Boynton's first representative to the County wide Planning Council in the 1990's. She was a charter member of the Boynton Beach Women's Republican Club in 1965, president of the Periwinkle Garden Club, a member of the Medical Auxiliary of Palm Beach County and a volunteer in the Boynton Beach Thrift Shop of Bethesda Hospital. Mrs. Huckle was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, was on the board of the Addison Mizner Foundation and the Boynton Beach Woman's Club, and a proud member of the Delray Beach Rotary Club
. She leaves behind her son, Reid; daughter-in-law, Brenda; daughter, Kay and grandsons, Christopher and Michael. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Huckle in 2001. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the LORNE & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 745 NE 6th Ave. (N. Federal Hwy) Delray Beach. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, 33 Gleason Street, Delray Beach. Entombment will follow at the Boynton Beach Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice by the Sea at www.hbts.org
