REIMERS, Patience Westall
Passed away on November 3, 2012 in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is survived by three children, Frederick N. Sigman III, Patience A. Burns (Thomas) and Charles H. Sigman (Janet). She had six grandchildren, Frederick N. Sigman IV, Erich H. Sigman, Austin J. Burns, Maryl Patience Burns, Joseph D. Sigman and Adam E. Sigman. And one great-grandchild, Frederick N. Sigman V. Patience is preceded in death by her husband John C. Reimers. Patience was a woman with an unbounded passion for life accompanied by a talent and love of recounting every minute of it. Her family and friends now have the fondest memories of her many anecdotes, always narrated with a delight in storytelling that she inherited from her parents. From her father Henry, she also discovered a love for golf, a game that she would play most of her life, and to which she would devote much of her working career. After the death of her parents in 1961, Patience made the courageous choice of uprooting her children from the family home in Asheville, North Carolina, and headed off to explore Europe. For several months, this family of four drove around the continent in a Chevy station wagon she transported across the Atlantic. Such an adventurous spirit was characteristic of Patience. With an infectious sense of humor, she could laugh at the absurdity of what life often gives us. Patience was touched and moved in sadness like all of us, but she refused to let the world?s folly win. At 81 years old, her parting thoughts to us are expressed in one of her favorite songs, ?Is that all there is, is that all there is/If that?s all there is my friends, then let?s keep dancing/Let?s break out the booze and have a ball/If that?s all there is.? In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County.
