Age 73, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, formerly from Newtown, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The son of the late Joseph A. and Mildred Furlotte, he was born in Medford, MA. He graduated from Medford High School and attended Northeastern University before entering the Air Force in 1959. After his discharge, he received his AP License from East Coast Aeronautical School. Paul spent his career in corporate aviation, working for WR Grace from 1966 to 1999. In his position, first as a flight mechanic and later as Chief Pilot, he flew all over the world with Peter Grace. Paul and his family moved to Florida in 1991 when the company relocated their corporate headquarters to Boca Raton. After retiring from Grace, Paul freelanced as a pilot for two years before taking a position with Jack Nicklaus. Flying for Jack allowed him to play golf at some of the best courses in the world and attend major tournaments. In 2003 he accepted a job with Florida Crystal and flew their Gulfstream 4 until his retirement in 2009. Paul truly loved flying and was the consummate professional. He was rated on multiple types of equipment including Challengers, Gulfstream?s 2, 3, and 4 and 727?s. Paul loved sailing, golf, cruising and model railroads, but most of all he loved his home and his family. He was a long time member of PGA National. Paul leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Judy Shaw Furlotte; sons, Kevin Furlotte of Atlantis, FL and his fiancée, Lisa Lehoczky; and Christopher Furlotte from Murrieta, CA and his wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Jack, Donovan, Nicholas, Emily and Summer; and his two loyal shih tzu?s, Lucy and Maggie. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Howard-Price Funeral Home, 754 US Hwy. 1, North Palm Beach, FL on Wednesday, January 9, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Memorial Service following at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul?s honor to Scripps Research Institute, 130 Scripps Way 4B2, Jupiter, FL 33458.
