DENTON, Robert Joel

Robert Joel Denton passed peacefully away at Vitas Hospice Center in West Palm Beach on New Year's Eve 2013. He was 77 years old and grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he learned to love the outdoors and became an avid fisherman and golfer. Along the way he developed his outrageous sense of wit and charm and his love of story telling. He served 4 years in the Army Intelligence Service at the end of the Korean conflict and then returned to work for his father as an insurance adjuster. He moved to Michigan and was married and divorced twice. After a few years in the insurance business trained to become social worker eventually moving his practice down to Lake Worth where he could take care of his aging parents. Bob always enjoyed spending time with friends and he was often spotted biking with them around the lake near his home. He will be missed in the greater West Palm Beach area. Bob is survived by his two daughters Laura and Rebecca, Battle Creek, MI, his sister Carol Bacon, Ledyard CT, his two nephews Scott Bacon and his wife Jackie and children Faith and Joey also of Ledyard CT, Joel Bacon and his wife Laura, Chappaqua NY and a niece Beth Bacon, Great Barrington MA. Cremation Services were provided by Cremation Services by the Sea, Lake Worth FL. Memorial services will be held at a future date TBD.
