OLSON, Theodore R. "Ted"

Theodore R. "Ted" Olson, 69, of Greenacres, FL, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2013 at the Hospice of Palm Beach County at JFK Medical Center, Atlantis, FL, after a brief battle with leukemia. He was born to Clarence and Ethel Lind Olson in Warren, PA on October 13, 1944. He graduated from Clarion State College in Clarion, PA with a B.S. degree in education and from Gannon University, Erie, PA with a M.S. in English. For 34 years, he worked in education as teacher, assistant principal, curriculum specialist, and area support person. Ted was a member of the Benevolent and Protective order of Elks where he was a past Exalted Ruler of the former Lantana-Boynton Elks 2676. He was a current member of the West Palm Beach Elks Lodge 1352. He served as Vice President of the southeast district of the Florida Elks and as the District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. Ted was also a member of the Lake Worth Loyal Order of the Moose 994 and was Assistant Secretary of their Sailfish Legion 197. Besides his parents, Ted was preceded in death by siblings, Joyce, Carl, David, and Richard Olson and an infant nephew, Justin Sutton. He is survived by long-time companion, Linda Jacobson, of Greenacres, FL; brothers, Arthur and John Olson of Youngsville, PA; sisters, Edith Laurence of Hartwell, GA, Margery Peters of Bear Lake, PA, and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at the West Palm Beach Elks, 6188 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33417 on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 3:00 PM.
