CONROY, JR., Thomas R.

76, of Loxahatchee, died suddenly, November 7, 2013. Tom was born on January 15, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He served two years in the United States Army and then joined the United States Coast Guard Reserve retiring after twenty years of service. While serving in the reserves on the weekend, he had a career with the Metro-Dade Police Department where he retired as an Officer/helicopter pilot. A faithful and active member of the Knights of Columbus, Tom was past Grand Knight of the Santa Maria Council #4999; past Faithful Navigator; and past District Deputy. Tom was a devout Catholic and a faithful and devoted parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola. Tom is survived by his devoted wife of twenty-one years, Penni; two sons, Thomas R. (Sharon) Conroy, III and Kevin Conroy; grandsons, Thomas M. (Kelsie) Conroy and Shane (Starla) Conroy; and his great-grandson, Thomas W. Conroy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at NORTHWOOD FUNERAL HOME, 5608 Broadway, West Palm Beach. A Scripture Service with recitation of the rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at St. Clare Catholic Church, North Palm Beach, with Rev. Fr. William D. O'Shea, presiding. Committal Services and burial with full Military Honors will follow at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth. Being that Tom was a proud and patriotic American who served his country honorably, the family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's name be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at NORTHWOOD FUNERAL HOME, FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED.
