Seymour Fleisher Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Seymour "Zoom" Fleisher FLEISHER—Seymour, 88, of Palm Beach Gardens FL and Fort Lee, NJ passed away December 18, 2011 surrounded by his adoring family. Engineer, entrepreneur, veteran, humanitarian, pilot, golfer, fisherman, athlete, father, family man and friend to all who knew him, Fleisher led an accomplished life full of friendships, success and love, all of which he was extremely proud. Born in Newark, NJ, Fleisher graduated from Weequahic High School before he served as Captain of the 20th Air Force, 315th Bomb Wing during WWII. After his service, he graduated from Newark College of Engineering, now known as New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), with B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. At NJIT he was both a scholar and captain of the Varsity Basketball team where he earned the nickname "Zoom" for his fast footwork on the court. He was later inducted into the NJIT Athletic Hall of Fame and served on the Advisory Boards for the University helping to create scholarship programs for collegial athletes. After earning his degree, Fleisher went on to become the founder and chairman of Pilot Technologies Corp., a manufacturing firm of precision components and assemblies that served the electronics, telecommunication, aerospace, aviation, medical and utilities industries throughout North America. His far reaching civic, charitable and community activities have included service on many Boards of Directors. Fleisher was an active supporter in the development and restoration of the Ammunition Hill Memorial Site in Israel, which will depict the siege of Jerusalem in the Six-Day war and serve as a center for learning and a symbol of the soldiers crucial to the security of Israel. He also served on the Board of Directors for the American Friends of Tel Aviv University, United Way of Passaic Valley, Wayne Area Chamber of Commerce, Kenneth L. Jordan Heart Foundation, and the Foundation for the Handicapped. Zoom celebrated over 52 years of marriage with his beloved late wife Estelle before her passing in 1997. He was loved and respected by so many and his loss will be felt deeply. His honesty and integrity will remain an inspiration to all who knew him. He often mentioned this adage by Mark Twain as being paramount to the way he chose to live his life: "Always do right, this will gratify some people and astonish the rest." He is survived by his son Bruce (Ellen) of Delray Beach, FL; Granddaughter Ronni (Gioel) Molinari (great-grandsons Luca and Max); Grandson Steven (Julie); his own four brothers and two sisters; as well as his loving partner Anita Fishbein of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Donations can be made in honor of Zoom to NJIT Building Fund or Jewish National Fund. To express condolences and/or make donations Visit PalmBeachPost.com/obituaries

Zoom was an inspiration to the other children In the Fleisher family, one of the oldest of the cousins.
Having lost is birth father while very young, he was a self-made man who created for himself the true 'American Dream'.
I'm so glad that I was able to see him shortly before his passing.

Zoom and Estelle had a cabin next to ours on Lower Wilson Pond in Greenville, Maine. They taught us all how to play Michigan Rummy...We used to have a great time going over to play cards, and they always welcomed our guests as their own. They were both good friends to my Mom and Dad, Evelyn and Howard Elander. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by Zoom's passing.

Zoom and my father, Eddie Rose were great friends from growing up in Jersey. Zoom and Estelle used to visit our home in Altamonte Springs, Fl quite often back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. My father could never say enough about what a great man Zoom was. They used to have so much fun together. Once again, they are together and laughing. My condolences to his family and thank you for sharing Zoom with us..Charlie Rose

So sorry to hear about Zoom. Zoom and Estelle were good friends with my parents Frank and Kathy Adams and many others through the Bendix Avionics Division in Ft.Lauderdale. Pilot Metal, the company he started was a very important supplier to Bendix both in the Baltimore days as well as when the factory moved to Ft Lauderdale. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. A class act. My family will miss him. Our sincere sympathy to Bruce and the entire Fleisher family. God bless. Carole (Adams) Hart
