Jo Ann,
my deepest condolences. I came to know Doug via the blog. He was so brutally honest about what he was going thru, it gave me a much needed insight into what my husband John was dealing with on a daily basis . Still wanted to do the doc maybe will be the much needed catharsis for writing. Thank You Doug.

I followed Doug's blog because my dad had amyloidosis. Doug sent me the nicest email and he fought so hard to raise awareness of this awful disease. I am so sorry for your loss.

I knew Doug in Indianpolis. He was a friend and a good person. Death is never fair: he was too young.

I met Doug @ a K.O.A. Campsite outside Philly when The 89 Earthquake hit San Fran and Santa Cruz. The Grateful Dead canceled the show the next night so we enjoyed some hearty food, laughs and a few beverages at our campsite. He told me that he was going to North Carolina to meet his friends who were on their honeymoon and would I like to travel with him and dog......I was a complete stranger from Canada to him but He took a chance on me......We had so much Fun together that trip that we traveled Quite a bit in the next 6 Years.I helped him build his Dream House in Mass. and He made my wedding party in Canada. ...I am so Sorry for all of You.....He was a good Soul and He treated Me like Gold...Fare thee Well, Fare Thee Well...I love You more than the words can tell.....Peace.
