Adored Football Coach Coach Frank D.B. DiCocco, 29, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his home on Singer Island, Florida, his most favorite place on earth. He was born on April 13, 1984 in Waterbury, CT. He is survived by his loving parents Lou and Kathleen (LaPorta) DiCocco and his sister Nicole. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Nancy LaPorta, aunt and uncle Marilyn and Jody Baker, aunt and uncle Pam and Peter DiCocco, cousins Adam Baker, Lisa and Rick Mariani, and Cathy and Dominic DiCocco. Frank graduated from St. Margaret-McTernan School, (presently Chase Collegiate) in Waterbury, CT, Avon Old Farms School in Avon with a cum laude medal, and Boston College in Newton, MA. He attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL and Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC for graduate school. Frank was the director of communications at Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, Virginia. He coached football at the Fessenden School in Newton, MA, the Godby High School in Tallahassee, FL, Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School in Cambridge, MA, Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, AL, South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, SC, Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, VA, Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT, and was recently named head football coach at Westminster Catawba Christian High School in Rock Hill, SC. Frank authored several books which are all available on-line at www.amazon.com, his most famous being "Playbook for Manhood: A Game Plan for Being a REAL Man." He also wrote articles for "Texas Coach" and "Gridiron Strategies" magazines in Texas and Florida respectively. His books and programs are used in high school football programs across the country. His most famous character-development programs are called "The REAL Man Program" and "The REAL Man Program Workbook" along with "The Building Blocks of Character." He is also the author of the book "Advice for Life: Insights for Living" a compilation of the "thoughts of the week" which Frank wrote weekly for the last several years. Frank was an amazing and loving young man who accomplished so much in a short life time. He was an honorable man, who left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to meet him. To honor Frank, please reach out and thank all the wonderful and influential people in your own life. Some of you called him Frank, some of you called him coach, but all of you called him friend. A Mass will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 110 Main Street, Farmington, CT. Family and friends are asked to meet DIRECTLY at the Church. Calling hours will be held Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, Connecticut. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. To honor Frank, memorial contributions may be made to the HOPE Foundation for a Better Tomorrow, established by Frank and now carried on by the DiCocco family, to provide underprivileged high school student athletes the opportunity to pursue their dreams of a higher education and to foster a higher level of athletic ability.
