Parker Schofield Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

PARKER F. SCHOFIELD Parker F. Schofield, 95, passed peacefully on to join his beloved wife of sixty five years, Nancy O. Schofield, on March 14, 2012. Captain Schofield flew for the Army Air Corps during World War II and retired in 1977 from a career as a pilot with Delta Airlines. He was one of those rare individuals skilled with his hands as well as his mind. During and following his airline career, Mr. Schofield ran a construction company in Massachusetts, worked as an attorney, and for two years, was Director of the UN International Civil Aviation Organization's training center in Beirut, Lebanon. He is survived by one son, one daughter, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly. "In times of doubt, Grandpa, we will sorely miss your wise counsel. We will forever cherish rich memories of your humor, your generosity, and your trademark random acts of kindness. Rest in Peace." We are very sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Schofield.
Parker was a wonderful gentleman with whom we were very lucky to be acquainted through Eliza, also. His kindnesses, knowledge, welcoming personality and warmth were truly special. It was wonderful to hear how much he loved his good family.
We send our prayers and warmest thoughts for Parker's lovely family.

So hard for me to know that Parker and Nancy are not, as I had always visualized them, gracing us here on earth...for they were earthly Graces. Love, love...

To the children grandchildren and "greats",
I, as secretary of Delta Golden Wings, Inc., the fraternal organization of active/retired pilots of Delta, send condolences from our entire membership. I personally did not know "Pinky", as he was called by his dear, fraternal friends, but he must have been one fine gentlemen. I wish I had known him like you, but for all of you, take all the wonderful memories and love you had for him and "run with it", letting his life inspire each of you into better things. I'm sure he will be missed by many who either flew with or knew him personally.

May God's blessings of love and comfort be with each of you as you adjust to his passing - his "final flight west" - in pilot's terms.

So sad to hear of Parker's passing. It was through dear Eliza that I met him and observed these few things: he was brilliant, a fine and amusing writer, always in search of new knowledge, a person of fine taste in food, wine and decorating, a gentleman......in short: a lovely person. Rest in peace, dear Parker.

Our sincere condolences to all of Parker's family. We remember him - and Nan- very fondly from Scituate and Tequesta. My parents, Dick and Lois Hunt were very close friends in both locations! He was indeed a very special person. I remember he was an avid computer user - always ready to learn something new and I can't fail to mention his bridge- playing expertise. . He will be missed.
Sincerely,
Trowby (Hunt) and Dan Brockman
