Catherine Ann MOORE

Obituary Condolences

MOORE, Catherine Ann

Catherine Ann Moore, 92, beloved wife of the late Ira Clyde Moore, passed away peacefully at her home on the evening of April 8, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was welcomed in heaven with open arms by her loving husband of 64 years, Clyde, daughter Patricia, son-in-law Walter and grandchildren, Christopher Brooks and Catherine Drake. Catherine was born in 1922 to the late Joseph and Mary McMullen of Waycross, GA and West Palm Beach. A graduate of St. Ann Catholic School in 1941, she was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Name of Jesus and Mary Immaculate parishes for many years. A Navy war bride, Catherine and Clyde married in 1942 and then settled in West Palm Beach where they worked side-by-side. Together, they were some of the pioneers in the development of the Okeechobee and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard corridors. As self-made entrepreneurs, their business ranged from banking, grocery and hardware to real estate development. If their business endeavors did not keep them busy enough, their 11 children certainly did. Like her father, Catherine was a fishing enthusiast. Catherine also loved working in her garden, sewing and southern cooking. Nothing pleased Catherine more than treating her family and friends to her homemade goodies, especially during Christmas. Left to cherish her memory are her son; Ira Clyde Moore, Jr. (Robin) of West Palm Beach, daughters; Kathleen Brooks (Larry) of West Palm Beach, Mary Morris of West Palm Beach, Jean Adeimy (Bill) of West Palm Beach, Linda Barnes (David) of Palatka, Nancy Moore of Daytona, Marjorie Firpo (Alan) of Royal Palm Beach, Terry Tarantino (Tony) of Royal Palm Beach, Gerry Moore of San Mateo, and Josephine Moore of Orlando, 33 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister; Anna Marie Kolshak (Leonard) of Lake Worth, Flavia Wade (Dick) of West Palm Beach, and Josephine Bazinet (Joseph) of Lake Clarke Shores and her brother and sister-in-law; Elwyn and June Moore along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 13, 2014, with a Scripture Service at 6:30 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 345 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Boulevard, Royal Palm Beach. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
