ALVAREZ, Fernando Candido

Was born in Havana, Cuba, on October 3, 1951 and came to the United States at the age of 6. He was predeceased by his parents, Roberto and Dalia Alvarez, as well as his eldest brother, Roberto Alvarez. Fernando was the loving husband of Mercedes for 40 years; and father of Adrianne Sanchez (Manny), Fernando, Chrissy and Amanda Alvarez. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Marissa Sanchez and Fernando Alvarez; two sisters, Marianna Sylvester and Dalia Alvarez, both of West Palm Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fernando retired from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office after 30 years of outstanding service but returned to the Sheriff's Office where he was actively serving at the time of his death. He was the second bilingual (Hispanic) hired by the Sheriff's Office and served in the patrol, detective, communications and community affairs divisions of the Department. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 4:00 PM on Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. Juliana Catholic Church, 4500 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, FL 33405; including full Honors by the Palm Beach County Sherriff Office.
