Janice Elizabeth BERRYMAN

Obituary Condolences

BERRYMAN, Mrs. Janice Elizabeth

72, of Juno Beach, FL died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 5, 2013 after a prolonged battle with cancer. A long-time resident of West Palm Beach, Janice had many ties to the area. Some of her happiest moments were her days on the cheerleading squad of Palm Beach High and Pep Cats. She completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and received her Master's of Education from the University of Miami. Her career began in Palm Beach County as a special education teacher. She enriched the lives of many students over the years and found her work in schools especially fulfilling. After teaching for about 12 years, she became the Palm Beach County School District's ESE (Exceptional Student Education) Contact and ultimately the Team Leader of the North Area, from which she retired in 2010. She was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, FL. At Bethesda, she proudly served on the Vestry, the Mission and Outreach, Buildings and Grounds, Christian Education, and Columbarium Committees, the Scholarship Fund, assisted with the annual Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival (20+years), and most recently found great joy serving as an acolyte and crucifer. Her faith was a guiding principle in her life, and Bethesda was always a sanctuary for her. Helping the children of the community was a life-long passion. In addition to her work with the students, teachers, parents, and administrators of the School District, she served for many years as a board member of the Children's Home Society. She trained her beloved clumber spaniel, Winston, as a therapy dog and brought him to classrooms where students needed assistance with reading. Janice had many hobbies from playing bridge and shelling to ceramics and birding. She always loved the natural world and especially admired the journey of the sea turtles of the area. She became a volunteer with the Sea Turtle Conservation League of Singer Island and monitored the beaches during many nesting seasons. Her generous and kind spirit touched many in the area, and her good works will be felt for many years to come. Your loved ones send you peace and love always. Janice was preceded in death by her husband, H.W. "Dick" Berryman, Jr.; son-in-law, Robert A. Rosillo; a stepdaughter, Amy Hart; and two step grandsons, Christopher and Matthew. She is survived two daughters, Kelly Anderson (James) of Newnan, GA, and Cary Rosillo of Englewood, NJ; two grandsons, Jonathan and Nicholas; her sister, Susan Douglas (Robert) of Tallahassee, FL; two nephews, Matt Douglas (Alexis) and Christopher Berryman; a niece Melinda Berryman; and a brother-in-law, Robert L. Berryman (Martha). Additional survivors include two stepsons, H.W. "Dick" Berryman, III (Lynn), and Timothy Berryman (Louise); step grandchildren, Savoy (Missy), Kyle (Michael), Wende, and Katherine; and several step great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Bethesda-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, 141 South County Road, Palm Beach, FL 33480, with The Rev. James R.
