Obituary Condolences

TACKETT, Jimmy "Jim"

Age 66 of Lake Clarke Shores, FL went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2013 after a courageous fight. Jim was born in Madison, West Virginia. He lived in Palm Beach County since 1964. Jim was a hero in the eyes of his children and a father figure to many and someone who was well respected by all who knew him. He enjoyed volunteering at fundraisers and barbeques. In his spare time you could find him in the kitchen mastering some of his best and well know dishes, while still attempting to make an edible meatloaf. Jim was preceded in death by: his wife of 25 years, Judith Ann Tackett; grandson, Julian Robert Escobedo; two sisters, Colleen Tackett and Mary Lamb; and lifelong friend of 30 years Robbie S. Allen. Jim is survived by: children, Jason, Jennifer and Jonathan Tackett of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Mason and Ranay Tackett of West Palm Beach, FL; daughter-in-law, Theresa Ann Tackett; future son-in-law, Justin De Bel of West Palm Beach, FL; three sisters, Juanita Riggs, Janet Ragayli, Sue Harper and brother Charles Tackett all of West Virginia; mother-in-law, Effie Pitts of Daleville, AL and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Among his best friends were T. Robert Giese, Robert Shalhoub and Steve Montgomery. Jim was an amazing man with the biggest heart! He was generous, kind and will be missed by all who knew him. "Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up you hearts and peace to thee. God wanted me now; He set me free." The family invites all who knew and loved Jim to join them on Saturday, June 8th from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday June 9th at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1901 Barbados Road, West Palm Beach with Dr. Tom Hunter officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Lake Worth Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to his children.
