Judy Ann (Shephard) HARRELL

Obituary Condolences

HARRELL, Judy Ann (Shephard)

Judy Shephard Harrell, 53, died October 10, 2013 at her Naples home. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends who were continually amazed at the grace and strength with which she faced her illness. Judy was born September 21, 1960 in West Palm Beach, FL to the late Ken and B.J. Shephard. She graduated from The King's Academy in 1979 and Auburn University in 1983. She married her only love and life partner, Tim in 1989 in Lake Worth, FL. They relocated to Richmond, VA where they raised their family before returning to Florida two years ago. Judy's strong faith was the catalyst for her moral compass. The family was active in the West End Assembly of God Church (WEAG) in Richmond where Judy was involved with many church endeavors, particularly the Mission Team for Friends of the Homeless and the Outreach Team for Women's Bible Study. Her faith led her to Summit Church when relocating to Naples. As a dedicated mother and through her example, Judy instilled in her children the values of honesty, integrity, love, acceptance and most importantly compassion for all. She enjoyed all forms of exercise, particularly kick boxing. She was always an animal lover, taking in orphans and strays that magically appeared on her doorstep, even if they ate her cherished hydrangeas. Judy is survived by husband, Tim; her children, Tess of Richmond, and Jenna and Timothy Austin of Naples, all whom are her proudest accomplishments; sister, Rhonda Shephard of Montana; brother, Keeler Shephard of Lake Worth and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial donations can be made to the Richmond Friends of the Homeless in care of WEAG, 401 N. Parham, Richmond, VA 23229. A service in Naples is scheduled for Tuesday October 15 at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road. Visitation begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the service at 7:30. Funeral services will be held in Richmond at West End Assembly of God (WEAG) on Saturday October 19 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Westhampton Cemetery. A celebration of Judy's life will follow the services at WEAG. All are welcome. For online condolences, please visit
