LEONARD SHELDON FISHKIN Leonard Sheldon Fishkin, 83, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL passed peacefully on June 30, 2011. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in New London, CT. He is is a graduate of Buckley High School. He served in Japan in the United States Air Force. Mr. Fishkin was the owner and founder of Whaling City Trucking in New London for over 40 years and later expanded the business to Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He was associated with North American Van Lines, where he served on its Executive Board. Extrememly activie in the community he served on the Board of Directors at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Congregation Beth El and Morse Life in Palm Beach, FL. Known to his friends as "Lenny" he was rarely seen without his pipe. He loved golfing, boating and travelling. He and his wife, Selene travelled extensively all over the world. His family was his greatest joy in life and he cherished their times together. He was greatly admired for his calm demeanor and keen judgement and leaves behind a legacy of dignity and compassion . He will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years, Selene. Loving father of Brian Fin and his wife, Suzanne, Richard Fishkin and his wife, Debra and daughter, Lynn Mizner and her husband, Neal Mizner all of Marblehead, MA. He was adored by his seven grandchildren, Zachary, Robyn, Jessica, Jaquelyn and Daniel Fishkin and Rachel and Jenna Mizner. He is predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Dinah Fishkin of New London,CT and his beloved sister, Doris Weinberg of Waterford, CT. He leaves behind his neices, Sheryl Quin and Elayne Peterson. Funeral Services were held at Congregation Beth El on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Beth El Synagogue, 660 Ocean Ave., New London, CT followed by internment in Groton, CT at the Beth El Cemetery. Dear Selene, We haven't known each other for very long, but I feel we share a bond due to our similar circumstances these past few years. Leonard's going so unexpectadly was a total shock .
