EASSA, Louis "Lou" J.

Louis "Lou" J. Eassa, 74 years old, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 10, 2013 while traveling abroad. Born in West Palm Beach, he was a son of Joe and Elaine Elias Eassa and a graduate of Palm Beach High School, Class of 1957. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pearl; two sons, Steven (wife Michele and their son Jacob), and Jeffrey (wife June and their son Austin) all of Palm Beach Gardens; a sister, Ethel Ritchie of Crestview, FL; two brothers, Jack Eassa (wife Faye) and Joe Eassa, Jr. (wife Beatriz) all of West Palm Beach; and several nieces and nephews. His professional career began as a Licensed Florida Insurance Agent and Realtor, which ultimately lead to 21 years of service as an Administrator and Insurance Specialist III with the Florida Department of Insurance, Bureau of Consumer Outreach and Education until his retirement in 2001. Lou was civic minded and served on the Palm Springs City Charter Revisions Committee, Palm Springs City Planning and Zoning Board, Palm Beach County Land Use Advisory Board, and the Palm Beach County Planning Commission in 1973. He was also a member of the Palm Beach County School District Board from 1978 until 1986 having served as the Chairman from 1984 until 1986. Lou was recognized for 50 years of service as a 32nd Degree Mason, Palm Lodge #327 and served as Worshipful Master in 1991. Lou enjoyed being with family and friends and his favorite pastimes include: dining and lunching, traveling with Pearl, being a proud husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, watching his grandchildren play sports, family vacations at Lake Toxaway, listening and singing along with gospel music, "scootering" around the Gardens Mall and the Wellington Mall, and shopping everyday at Wal-Mart. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. William Keith from the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, officiating. A Masonic Funeral Ceremony will be offered by the Palmwood Lodge #303 F.&A.M.. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
