of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away on 4/27/13 at the age of 92. Phil was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1921 and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in France and Algeria during the Second World War where he was renowned for his technical and language capabilities. He and Renee, his wife of 60 years, began the Weiss family while living in Manhattan, moved to Seaford, Long Island in the mid-1950s, and ultimately settled in North Woodmere, NY in 1964. Phil was a fund-raiser, Director of Development and Associate Administrator at the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn for 35 years, helping to expand the former Beth-El Hospital to the major medical center it would become. After retirement in 1986, Phil and Renee spent several winters in Florida, and Phil relocated there in 2004, shortly after Renee passed away. He was an avid and skilled golfer and played often. Phil is survived by his children, Alison, Bob and Brian, and his son-in-law Bill, and his loving companion, Paula Klein. Phil was a wonderful and generous husband and father, and was loved and admired by those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
