THOMAS GENE AVERHART Thomas Gene Averhart, age 73, passed away peacefully with his wife of 54 years by his side on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. Born in Bay, Arkansas he moved to Chicago, IL in 1954 where he worked at Brach Candy Co. for 25 years. Upon his retirement from Stepan Chemical Co., Elwood, IL in 1997 he relocated to West Palm Beach, FL. He always had a love for hunting and was known as “Coonhunter” to many. He enjoyed his family and friends and was kind to all he met. He was an active church member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Annie O. Averhart. Loving father to Theresa (fiance Greg Smith) Averhart of Morris, IL, Jim (Nancy) Averhart of West Palm Beach, Tom (Jill) Averhart of Jupiter, and Stephen (Stephanie) Averhart of West Palm Beach; Proud grandfather of Amy, Jennifer, Michael, Rebecca, Danae, Allison, Alex, Bailey and great-grandchild, TJ; brothers and sisters, Chris (Glen) Young of Naylor, MO, Panzy (Ernie) Landrth of Naylor, MO, Mary Weiker of Clarkston, WA, JW (Sharon) Averhart of Naylor, MO, Brenda (Bob) Lepold of Naylor, MO, Billy Joe (Peggy) Averhart of Long Beach, MS, Sarah Schinnerer of Biloxi, MS, Debbie Phillips of Gulfport, MS; Tom was preceded in death by his son Michael Averhart in 1974. The Averhart family will receive their friends from 2-2:30 PM with a service from 2:30-4 PM on Friday, September 14 at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1716 Meridian Rd., West Palm Beach 689-8470.
