67 (affectionately known as "Sugar Bear"), of Stuart, FL passed away on January 11, 2013 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Hay-Madeira House in Stuart, FL. He was born in Bonifay, FL to the parents of the late Weldon Brown, Sr. and Louise Cassel-Brown. Mr. Brown moved to Stuart, FL in 1968 from Bonifay. He was educated in the public schools of Holmes County, FL and graduated from Hampton Junior College in Ocala, FL. Later Weldon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL and a Master of Science Administration and Supervision Education degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. He was a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Stuart, FL. Before retirement he was employed as an administrator for the Martin County School Board. During his 30 year tenure with the Martin County School Board, he was a Social Studies teacher and Dean at Martin County High School, Assistant Principal at South Fork High School and Principal at Spectrum Jr./Sr. High School in Stuart, FL. In Martin County he served his community as a City Commissioner and Vice-Mayor, a member of the Young Men's Progressive Association (Y.M.P.A.), a member of the Martin County Association of Administrators and the Concerned Citizens of Stuart. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon Brown, Sr. and Louise Brown, and six siblings, Willie Brown, Margaret Brown Chaney, Anna Louise Brown Niles, Idell Brown Peacock, Roosevelt Brown and Aretha Brown Williams. Survivors include: a devoted wife, Ora Hamilton Brown of Stuart, FL; a son, Nicholas Hamilton Brown (Alisa) and grandson, Alexander Nicholas Brown of Port St. Lucie, FL; a canine grand-puppy, Benny Gizmo Brown; 2 brothers, Randy Brown (Carolyn) and Bennie Ray Brown of Bonifay, FL; 4 sisters, Lillie Brown Harris (Eugene) of Bonifay, FL, Mary Ann Brown Wiles of New York, Essie Mae Brown and Dorothy Brown Hamilton of Altamonte Springs, FL. Services: A homegoing celebration will be observed on Saturday, January 19, 2013, 11:00am at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Stuart, FL, with the pastor, Reverend Elker Harris, officiating. Entombment will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
