CHARLES R. AHRENS Charles R. Ahrens, 92, of University Park, FL, formerly of West Palm Beach, his birthplace, died May 19, 2011. Charles was the son of Frank Frederick and Gertrude Hays Ahrens. After proudly serving in the US Navy during World War II, he followed in the family business, Ahrens & Son, which was started by his father and grandfather George Ahrens in 1911. Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam Vihinen Ahrens; beloved mother of Toi Estes and Richard Ahrens, and his second wife, Jean Howard Ahrens. Charles is survived by his daughter, Toi and her husband, Dr. Sandford Estes of University Park, FL; his son, Richard C. Ahrens of West Palm Beach and his fiancée, Judy Johnson-Garcia; beloved grandsons, Hays and Nathaniel Estes; granddaughter, Kristen Ahrens McMahen; great-grandson, Caden McMahen and former daughter-in-law,Barbara Fleisher. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Christ Fellowship Church, Palm Beach Gardens South Campus. A reception will immediately follow the service. The internment will be private at Hillcrest Memorial Park in West Palm Beach.
